We use the “Microsoft Teams” tool from Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA, to conduct online meetings, video conferences and/or webinars. The controller for operations within the EU is Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland.
Various types of data are processed when using Microsoft Teams. The scope of data processing also depends on the information you provide before or during participation in a “meeting”. The processed data includes in particular
- User details (e.g. name, email address, profile picture, preferred language),
- Meeting metadata (e.g. date, time, meeting ID, chat protocols),
- Text, audio and video data (if you use a microphone or camera).
The purposes of the processing are the organisation of online meetings and the associated communication. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR, insofar as the meetings are held within the framework of contractual relationships, and Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR in all other cases. Our interest lies in the effective organisation of online meetings.
Data processing outside the EU cannot be completely ruled out, as Microsoft is a US company. We have concluded the necessary contracts with Microsoft, including the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission.
